A Place For Demons

This is an illustration from the book The Name of the Wind. The main character, Kvothe, finds that his traveling performance troupe (including his parents) have been killed by the Chandrian (a murderous group that was widely believed to have only existed in folk tales).

Kvothe was caught in an almost dreamlike state trying to process everything going on around him. The author augmented this haunting moment by bathing this scene in a light emitted by blue fire (which was an omen of the Chandrian's arrival). This scene always stuck out to me when I read the book in 2018 so I wanted to do my best to capture all of it's complexity.

**To any book fans out there, I definitely took some liberties depicting this scene so that non book readers would be able to understand the narrative in one image. I hope both fans and first time viewers can enjoy!
